The “unfreedom” I want to reduce is being unable to do what you want to do, and being unable to choose the life you want.
Where we come from and the environment we grow up in. The workings of nations and markets. Convention and the eyes of society. And technical and physical constraints. These narrow our choices about where to live, what to learn and how to work.
I do not want to simply accept such constraints as “just the way things are.” Without infringing on the will or freedom of others, I want to help people live more freely, and to expand the very range of things they can choose.
Technology is the means to that end. AI that widens access to knowledge and skills. Robots that ease the constraints of the body, of time and of place. Through technology, we make possible what could not be done before, and ways of living that could not be chosen. That is why we have set out to put AI and robotics to work in society.
Through our consulting, systems development and education businesses, we turn this thinking into systems and businesses that people can actually use. Rather than staying within a single field, we create and grow businesses in response to each challenge. By building on these efforts, I hope to reduce the constraints on human freedom.
